Only with God's help are miracles possible

In January 2024, something special happened: we were both baptized into the Orthodox Church – just a few days away from each other. At that time, we did not know each other and did not suspect that God had already linked our paths together.

Shortly after the baptism, we made important decisions independently of each other. One of us registered on Love Orthodox – with the desire to live the faith together even in marriage. There a profile immediately caught my eye: a convert, living in Zurich. Even without making contact, this impression remained in the heart.

At the same time there was a family trip to Switzerland, even passing Zurich. The idea of making contact was already there – but it was an intensive phase: the final spurt of the doctoral thesis was imminent. The plan was clear: first complete, then consciously start the search for a wife.

A few weeks later it was time. After handing in the work and a few days of rest, the first step was dared – a message was written. What no one knew at that time: the subscription to Love Orthodox had almost expired at the recipient's place. She had not been active for months, she had already let go of the hope of meeting her future husband there.

But God wanted it differently.

Shortly before the subscription expired, she received an e-mail informing her that a new message had been received. The next evening the answer came – and with it our common story began.

At that time, one of us was already on a long journey through several countries, many of them deeply influenced by the Orthodox faith: Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania. During this two-month trip, we wrote emails regularly. Even from a distance we got to know each other intensively, exchanged thoughts about faith, life and our future. It quickly became clear: we shared the same love for Orthodoxy, the same values and a common idea of what marriage should mean.

That's why there was a promise: a visit to Zurich at the end of the trip.

It was there that we saw each other in person for the first time – and it confirmed what had previously grown in prayer and in the distance. Several months of mutual visits followed, during which our love matured step by step. Every farewell was difficult, every new encounter was a gift. The physical distance always put us to the test, but it was precisely in this that we learned to practice patience, to trust each other and to entrust everything to God. Prayer, conversations and the firm desire to walk this path together carried us through this time.

In May 2025 we were allowed to get engaged in Crete – in a place that is deeply rooted in the Orthodox faith. There it became visible what had grown silently before: the decision to connect our lives with each other and before God. Our love continued to grow, sustained by gratitude and the certainty of not leaving alone.

The church wedding ceremony followed in August. Looking back, we see clearly: it was not a coincidence, but God's guidance. Two people who independently found the Orthodox faith were brought together at the right time. We have mastered everything – the distance, the waiting, the difficult farewells - with God's help. We are deeply grateful for this.
